Bar and Restaurant Groups in Glasgow — Who Owns What?

Yesterday, I found out that the same company owns The Baby Grand and Cottiers (weird), which got me thinking about all the big hospitality groups that operate in Glasgow.

Here’s the ones I know about:

* Maggie Mays/Strip Joint/Slouch (I presume these are linked?)
* Princes Square (Used to have Nick’s in Hyndland too, I think)
* itison (Brel, Sloans, etc.)
* Kained (Lebowskis and loads more in Finnieston.)
* The Baby Grand Group
* The R Group (Mostly out East Dun way)

  1. Surely this is overlooking the elephant in the room that is G1. As far as i know they own the following in Glasgow:

    Corinthian

    Arta

    The Social

    The Bothy

    Polo lounge

    Kushion

    The Hillhead Book Club

    The Grosvenor

    There’s probably more

  2. Pulled from a job posting:

    The GGIT Group are proud owners of Brel, Maggie Mays, The Griffin, Sloans and most recently Nick’s Bar & Grill and The Finn Market (previously known as Chelsea Market).

  3. DRG (Di Maggios Restaurant Group) is another big one that hasn’t been mentioned.

    Di Maggios

    Amarone

    Anchor Line

    Barolo Grill

    Cafe Andaluz

    Atlantic

    Citizen

  4. The Shed, the Buff Club, singl-end in Garnethill and the two (or are there more?) Butterfly and Pig pubs are all the same guy. Used to be part-owner of the garage and the catty (which was handy when I knew the son when I was a teenager).

  5. Another big player:

    Colin Beaty – Owns The Oran Mor, The Ben Nevis, Granny Gibbs, The Old College Bar, The Lismore and others. I read once that he’s owned over 50 pubs in his career.
